PROCEDURES
SURGICAL AND NON SURGICAL
LIPOSUCTION
Liposuction can be a complex procedure, but it may represent a definitive, life-changing solution for selected patients. It is not a weight-loss procedure; rather, it is intended for patients who are at or near their ideal weight and have localized fat deposits that do not respond to exercise or dietary changes. Liposuction may also be performed in selected patients with lipedema.

MOMMY MAKEOVER
Personally, I do not favor the term “mommy makeover” for two main reasons.
First, I do not view it as a transformation. Rather, it is about helping women recover the shape of their body prior to motherhood, always with the understanding that the body does not—and should not—return to exactly what it was before.
Second, the term is highly ambiguous. It can refer to anything from a breast augmentation combined with a mini abdominoplasty, which requires less surgical and recovery time, to a much more extensive procedure such as a circumferential abdominoplasty with liposuction, gluteal fat grafting, and mastopexy with implants.
For this reason, I prefer to describe it as a gift to a mother after bringing life into this world.
POST–MASSIVE WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY
Massive weight loss is defined as the loss of 50% or more of excess body weight or a total weight loss greater than 50 kg.
It is recommended that patients maintain a stable weight for at least three months prior to surgery. A comprehensive evaluation by the bariatric surgeon, as well as assessments by psychology and nutrition specialists, is required.
This is a reconstructive procedure that also incorporates aesthetic goals. Surgery may address any area of the body affected by the sequelae of obesity. The most commonly performed procedures include abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, mastopexy, thoracoplasty, and cruroplasty.

BLEPHAROPLASTY
SUPERIOR AND INFERIOR
Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that addresses excess skin and fat of the upper and/or lower eyelids. It is performed to improve eyelid contour, reduce a tired appearance, and achieve a more refreshed and balanced facial expression. It is the second most commonly performed procedure by Dr. Mari Mar.

BUCCAL FAT REMOVAL
Bichectomy is a procedure performed to refine facial contours by removing the buccal fat pads, which are localized fat deposits located in the cheeks.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia through small intraoral incisions and does not require sutures. Patients must be non-smokers and maintain excellent oral hygiene after each meal.
The procedure typically lasts between 30 minutes and one hour and is associated with mild discomfort. It is often combined with submental liposuction. Final results become noticeable at approximately three months. Mild swelling is expected during the first two weeks; therefore, surgery should be scheduled when no upcoming social events are planned.
BOTOX
Botulinum toxin is applied to specific muscles or areas to temporarily reduce their activity, helping to soften and prevent dynamic facial wrinkles. It is also used in the treatment of hyperhidrosis to reduce excessive sweating. The result is a more relaxed, refreshed, and balanced appearance, as well as improved comfort in daily life.

FILLERS AND COLLAGEN BIOSTIMULATORS
This procedure is used to improve facial symmetry, enhance overall facial harmony, and address wrinkles, scars, and other aesthetic concerns.
Hyaluronic acid is a very safe material, as it is naturally produced by the body. It can be injected in areas such as the nose, cheekbones, jawline, lips, and facial wrinkles.
It is indicated for patients seeking to improve facial balance, restore symmetry, or soften wrinkles that cannot be effectively treated with botulinum toxin. On average, hyaluronic acid fillers last between 9 and 12 months.
Other injectable materials, such as calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse®) and poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra®), may also be used. While these products provide volume, their primary effect is biostimulation of the tissues, promoting collagen production over time.
As with any injectable treatment, mild bruising may occur. For this reason, it is recommended to avoid scheduling the procedure a few days prior to an important social event.
LABIAPLASTY
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reduce and reshape the labia minora. It may be considered by patients who experience physical discomfort during daily activities, exercise, or sexual intercourse, or who have concerns related to labial anatomy. It is important to understand that vulvar anatomy varies widely, and there is no single “normal” appearance.
